Made for Mum.

I wanted to share the card I made for my mum on Mother's Day. I made the background using Dylusions Ink Spray in Lemon Zest & an orange spray that I made from my orange Derwent Ink Block & some water.
I tore the meaning of Mother out of a dictionary that I use for art (I don't normally go around tearing up books!) and inked it using Distress Stain in Scattered Straw. I also used it to colour in the vintage photo I used. It is available to download from The Graphics Fairy, which is an invaluable source in my opinion!
I used my Big Shot & Tim Holtz Tattered Florals Die for the flower which I inked using the same inks. I finished it off with a broken earring! I love using broken jewellery in projects!
I inked up some lace from my stash with Distress Ink in Vintage Photo & then rinsed it through with a little water. It just ages it a little...  Once dry I added it to the background. I layered the background onto gold card cut to size. I added some natural twine across it & put all the elements together. Voila!
Mum loved it... I hope you do too!

Good Thoughts...

I've been looking to make some 'quote boards', which are pieces of artwork that use quotes on them. I'd saved some quotes in my phone for future use.... Hey, you never know when you might use them!
I made some boards up, by sticking 4 sheets of thin card together, dry & flatten under a book. I then added texture by sticking ripped book pages & paper towel onto them & give them a coat of paint... I use gesso or any paint I have to hand & in a quite random way & then leave to dry. Well, I say leave, I tend to help it along a bit with a heatgun! Then they are ready to use! I made 3 boards altogether.
For the first board I chose this quote...
" If you have good thoughts they will shine from your face like sunbeams & you will always look lovely." - Roald Dahl

As soon as I read it, I could see the finished piece in my mind!
I used leftover tester pots of emulsion, acrylic paints, Caran D'ache watersoluble crayons, Distress Stains. I used a cog mask & punchinella for the background. I also used my Brother p-touch tape machine for the text, some little black gems & a flower peel-off sticker.

Thanks for stopping by!

Faux Enamel Pendants

It takes me ages to fall asleep at night, infact I was still awake at 4 am! But this is when I get my inspiration... I have loads of creative ideas swirling around my head just when I need to shut my brain off! Anyway, today I thought I'd try one out...
I drilled holes into some wooden circles. I sprayed Dylusions Ink in Lemon Zest, Bubblegum Pink & Vibrant Turquoise onto one side of them. I seem to use these colours alot... Must be my holy trinity, so to speak! I then used Adirondak Paint Dabbers in Stream, Terracotta & Wild Plum over a floral mask. I think it's a Stamps Away one...
Here comes the experimental bit! I inked up the backs with Distress Embossing Ink & coated them in a layer of Clear Fine Embossing Powder & melted it with my heat gun. I then dipped it straight into Ultra Thick Embossing Powder (UTEE) & melted it again. While it was hot I placed some gold/silver leaf onto it & waited for it to cool. I then embossed the front side the same way but used 1 layer of Fine Embossing Powder & 2 layers of UTEE. I placed some metal leaf onto the 2nd layer. I reheated to get the UTEE for a glossy finish.
I think they turned out really well. I will post a pic of them with their bails when I've made them.
Thanks for looking!

Card for Kat

I made this card for my friend Kat. If you follow my blog you will know I'm proper rubbish at it & that I don't really explain how I've done stuff. So I will TRY, from now on, to do so!
I used Ranger Distress Stains in Scattered Straw, Peeled Paint, Worn Lipstick, Fired Brick & Broken China on white card. I then used Picket Fence Distress Stain over the top of a floral mask to get the desired effect. I mounted it onto recycled brown card. I used an IndigoBlu stamp on a tag that I had inked with Brushed Corduroy & Vintage Photo Distress Ink for a topper. Finished it off with some beads strung onto cord.
Please feel free to leave a comment, I would love some feedback!
