Made for me!

Quick post... I made myself a calendar today. I thought I might get one for xmas but didn't. I can't function without one! It reads "laugh when you can, apologize when you should & let go of what you can't change".

New year, new post.

I know its not exactly new year as we are 9 days in, but I'm not exactly very good at blogging in a timely manner! Anyway, hope this year carries on being as good as it has been up to now.
Before all the festive hoohaa, I was commissioned to make bracelets for a local brownies. It was to celebrate their pearl anniversary. They had specified that they wanted stretchy glass pearl bracelets with the brownie trefoil on some sort of charm. I set about making the bracelets & thought about how I would make the charms. I decided to make a stamp of the trefoil & I used it on shrink plastic, cut them into circles using my big shot, punched a hole to hang them & blasted them with my heat gun. I then attached them with a gold jump ring & popped them into organza bags. Anyway, here's a pic...

Friends in Need....

Woah! 2 posts in 1 day... Get me!
I had pneumonia a few weeks back & last week my youngest had his adenoids & grommets removed & had complications, on top of that the boiler finally died after a long illness! (No hot water since March & then no heating either!) So, things have been getting me down in the dumps... It's true they come in threes!
Good job I have a great friend & neighbour! She helped me out no end so I made her a card... This ones hand drawn too!

It's December Already!

I know, my posting has been non existent lately & you know what that means.... Yep! A gigantic post to catch up!
Perhaps I should take a course on how to not be rubbish at blogging!
Ok, here's my latest makes....
The pink card with butterflies on it was made for Isla, my step granddaughter, for her christening.
The new home card was made for my cousin, Emma. She has moved to France with her family.
Dads card features The Saints rugby shirt...he's a fan!
The spotty card with a huge cake on was for Isla's 1st birthday.
My father in law, Ken's card was hand drawn by me. He loves travelling in his Motorhome so thought I'd draw it!
Last but not least, is another hand drawn card. I drew an owl for my friend Maria. She's a brown owl for her local Brownies & collects them so it was very apt!
I really like doing hand drawn cards, it stretches me. I love a good stretch!
I haven't done anything on the journal front for ages as I have Isla 3 days a week. I have one free day a week to do arty stuff & I've mostly been doing personal cards, as you can see! I have a commission for the Towcester Brownies to do that is due in January, so I have been doing that as & when too. I'll post pics when it is finished!
Thanks for looking!

Art Geeks: 1 Photo 1 Year Challenge.

I've become part of an online art community & this week Christy posted a challenge to draw from the same photo everyweek for a year. This is to see if there is an improvement in our drawing skills after drawing the same thing for 52weeks. Practice makes perfect afterall! I printed off a pic of my husband Neil. I don't draw men usually, infact I've never drawn Neil until now! So this is a good challenge for me. I will be drawing the same pic everyweek to see if I do get better! Don't judge too harshly... It's my first attempt!

Little Photo Book

I know it's been a little while since my last post. I'm recovering from pneumonia at the moment so everything seems to take me just that little bit longer!
Anyway, my dad had asked me ages ago about making an album for him. So I raided my mums albums, my albums & family Facebook profiles & collected a few photos together. I didn't want to use the originals so I scanned them & printed them onto photo paper. I used 8 5"x7" recycled greetings cards, that I glued back to back to make the 'pages'. I used loads of scrap paper that I had, washi tapes, stickers, stamps & ribbon on the pages to give a scrapbook feel to it, & glued the photos in. I made the cover from a cardboard shoe box & some ribbon.
I really enjoyed making this for my dad. I hope he likes it!
