Circle Journal: My Completed Journal

Hello again my lovelies! Yesterday I posted about the pages/spreads I completed in the other members of Circle Journal journals. You can find that HERE. Today I want to share the pages the other members created in my journal!
We are all lovers of colour and all things PaperArtsy! If you followed me over the years you will have seen my entries for challenges etc! A lot of the spreads feature PaperArtsy products. 😊

I created it in June 2017 you can find the post about it HERE. I posted it off to Tricia and received it back in July 2018 from Wanda, completing the circle!

Front Cover
 Rules
Each of us could choose to have rules or prompts for our journals. I chose to give each person a double page spread and told them to get out of their comfort zones. I don't really do rules as such as I end up doing my own thing, so I can't really impose them on others!

Tricia's Spread
Tricia's spread is full of colour and has a lovely texture! It reads: "Fill your world with colour."

Rebecca's Spread
Rebecca's spread goes from monotone to bright colours with the quote " Out of the darkness cometh light and colour." Love the contrast!

Hazel's Spread
Hazel's spread has a similar style to mine! The quotes read: "A party without cake is just a meeting" and "Be your beautiful self."

Marie's Spread
Marie's spread has a lovely autumnal feel. the quote reads: "How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and colour are their last days."

Claire's Spread
Claire's spread has a dreamy floral theme to it. The quote reads: "If we could see the miracle of a single flower clearly, our whole life would change."

Julie's Spread
Julie's spread has a patchwork of embossed card and collaged ephemera. The words read: "My favourite memory", "Remember when", "You+Me=Fun", "Genuine", "Our unforgettable adventure", "Memories" and "Friends".

Deb's Spread
Deb's spread features one of her painted girls and an embossed butterfly. The script reads: " Fly away. Let the wind be your friend. Fly, take flight my lovely. Grow your wings and fly."

Chris' Spread
Chris' spread is full of awesome texture! She's used beads, stones and all sorts to create it! The words read: "Art", "See the beauty", "Creativity. Is the only way to run away without leaving your home." How true that is!

Linda's Spread
Love the contrast and colour in Linda's spread. Her quote reads: "And when the rain begins to fall, you'll ride my rainbow in the sky. And I will catch you if you fall, you'll never have to ask me why." Love that quote!

Catherine's Spread
Catherine has her own YouTube channel and she made a video of the creation of her spread in my journal! You can find it HERE. Make sure you subscribe! The quote reads: "All you need is love. Start doing things you love. Go where your heart takes you. No beauty shines brighter than that of a good heart."

Wanda's Spread
Wanda's spread has lots of lovely layers and she popped a card in the pocket too! The quote reads: "To create one's own world takes courage."

Each and every spread is gorgeous and my photos really don't do them justice! I feel like I really got to know everyone through their pages each time a journal came to me. I could tell who's pages were who's by end. I'm really looking forward to taking part in the next round starting in October 2018.

I hope you enjoyed looking through my journal with me.

Thank you for stopping by! Please feel free to leave a comment!
Much love

Catch up news & Circle Journal 3

Hello my lovelies, I know it's been too long! I do have a good reason though. Well it's not good but it's a reason!
My son Sam was diagnosed in February 2018 with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia. Totally turned our world upside down! Unfortunately, it didn't respond to chemo so he will be having a bone marrow transplant in the next few months. So lots of things have taken a backseat as you can imagine! I stopped doing art classes on Jot 2018 and Wanderlust 2018 and so I will be posting on those when I start to do the lessons again. It might be next year but I'm not worrying about it. I won't be buying anymore courses until they're finished anyway!

The only art I continued with was the Circle Journal I talked about in THIS POST.
The journal which you can see in the before mentioned post, was posted off to other members of the group to do a double page spread and post on. Now this post is about the pages I completed in the other members journals! I tend to use quotes and my intuition in my artwork and these are no exception.

Catherine's Journal
 Front

Back
Unfortunately, Catherine's journal got lost in the post so we all did both sides of an envelope for a surprise journal that Chris put together for her.
I used some magazine cut outs and went with my intuition. The quote on the front says: "Forget everything you were told about art. Just do it. Do you." on the back it says: "Make art you love!"

Chris' Journal
Chris' journal had lolly sticks with prompts on. I chose the prompt 'Broken'. I used pieces of cut up CD's and texture paste for the hand. I used the quote " We're all a little broken. That's how the light gets in."

Claire's Journal
Claire's journal was made in a vintage style, so I did my page to suit her style/colourways. I used the quote "Reach high for the stars that are hidden within your soul."

Deb's Journal
My spread in Deb's journal was very intuitive. I used some cut up sequin waste and masking tape and had a grand ol' time! I used the quote "Find your own style" which I think I may have!

Hazel's Journal
 Front
 Back
I used some collage elements that Hazel included and added some of my own for this page. I stuck the eyes on the inside so they could peek through the envelopes window. The front says: "More than meets the eye" and the back says: "Look inside yourself."

Julie's Journal
I heat embossed onto fabric which I'd never done before and used a Frida Kahlo collage element on Julie's spread. It says "Create a revolution." and "Express yourself."

Linda's Journal
I used some wire behind the element in the top left corner and the quote "Unknown expectation" which was chosen randomly from a box of typed words I have. There's also a little metal pen nib charm hanging off of it.

Marie's Journal
 Front
 Back
I used gelpress page scraps as collage as a starting point and went from there. The quote says: "Create a beautiful revolution." I love holding my heat gun close to the paint and making it bubble, it gives lovely texture!

Rebecca's Journal
 Front
 Inside
Rebecca's journal had fold out pages and we could choose from a selection of quotes to use. I used a vintage eye ephemera element for the front flap and sewed a button in the pupil as a closure. The front quote says: "Art is not what you see, but what you make others see." I used a vintage lady collage element for the inside spread and the quote "Learn the rules like a pro so you can break them like an artist."

Tricia's Journal
Front
Back
I was inspired by a floral mandala type stamp I have for Tricia's spread. It made me think of a lotus flower and the quote: "Just like the lotus flower we too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom out of the darkness and radiate love into the world." So that's what I used! Tricia was on holiday in Bali at the time which is probably why it called to me. I added a pocket and tag to the back of the page.

Wanda's Journal
I was inspired by the vintage photo I used along with some rusty metal embellishments I had knocking around and I used a page that a friend gave me from a very old book. I wrote the word Blessed in Indian ink along with a lovely splodge! I just can't do #CleanAndSimple!

I hope you enjoyed looking at all of my pages/spreads. I will be taking part in round 4 of Circle Journal in October!
I will be posting another post on the pages/spreads that are in my circle journal too!

Thank so much for stopping by. I really appreciate it. Please feel free to leave a comment! Which were your favourite?
Much love

PaperArtsy Pink & Orange Challenge!

Hiya my lovelies!
Here's my post for the
1st PaperArtsy Challenge of the year!
The theme is Pink & Orange.

I thought I'd make a Masterboard to start with,
using Daler Rowney Mixed Media Paper.
I used PaperArtsy Fresco Paints in
Sherbert, Very Berry, Butternut,
Autumn Fire & Smoked Paprika.
This is my favourite method of breaking a blank
page. Just randomly squirt the colours
& spread out with a plastic card.

I then used Shabby Harlequin & Honeycomb
Creative Expresions Mini Stencils
& some sequinella with the Sherbert, Very Berry & Butternut.

I stamped PaperArtsy Frames with Archival ink in Watering Can.
I also added the small star flowers from JOFY13 using a
White POSCA pen. No photo of that, Sorry!

After it had dried, I cut the Masterboard
into 2 5x5 inch squares to make 2 cards.
I had 2 pieces left over & will use them elsewhere.

I added some ribbon, a skeleton leaf & an Orange journaling spot
that I cut in half. I adhered them using Crafter's Companion
Stick & Stay. I added the word HAPPINESS using
Tiny Alphabet Stickers from HobbyCraft.

To this one I added a heart that I'd sponged the Butternut,
Very Berry & Sherbert
Fresco's, & a wooden LOVE that I saved from my brother's wedding!
Well, I couldn't bear them being wasted!
😉

I now have 2 cards that I can use.
Really need to make some more!

I'm glad I managed to enter the challenge.
I hope you enjoyed this post?
Let me know below.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Statement Journal Page

Hiya my lovelies!
I started the wonderful Wanderlust 2017!
Fabulous course with lots of great teachers and educators.
You can find it HERE if you want to sign up!
(I'm not affiliated!)
Anyway I completed lesson 1 and wanted to share!
This is my journal page containing
my statement for 2017.
'To be fearless & authentic. To find insight & to embrace change.'

I used a mixture of ephemera, acrylic paints, stencils and stamps.
I love the stamp set! It's EEA05 from PaperArtsy.
A really versatile and quirky mix of fonts. It's only available
from Everything Art at the moment.

I would like to enter this page into the challenges over at:

Journal 52

Hiya my lovelies!
2 posts in 1 day!!
I'm so on it! Haha!
😊
What is Journal 52?
Well, it's basically a journal spread every week following that weeks prompt.
There is a FB group which is closed but you can click join if you
are interested.
I am using a Moleskine journal for this project.

Here's my opening spread...

This weeks prompt is
PORTAL

I used:
*Pebeo high viscosity studio acrylics
*White Gesso
*Andy Skinner Fossil stencil
*Items for making marks ie. tubes & plastic cards etc.
*Silver Edding1200 metallic pen.
*Unipin Fineliner 0.3

Around the 'Portal' I have written:
"We constantly go through portals on our way through life.
Each decision we make, opens up a new one for us
to travel through. Constantly opening to new possibilities,
new adventures."

I really enjoyed this prompt and sharing it with you.
Thanks for stopping by.
Please leave a comment before you leave!

My Cosmic Gown

Hiya my lovelies!
I've got something a bit different to share today...
My little brother (who's not so little) got married in New York a few weeks ago!
The newlyweds had a reception here when they got back.

I originally got my dress from the Oxfam website.
I fell in love with it but wanted to tweak it a bit.
So, I decided to 'decorate' it.
I started by masking off the top of the dress.
I wanted to keep this plain.
I got out my Decoart Media Misters and my Daler Rowney
Pearlescent Acrylic Inks & basically went bonkers with them!
I had to take it outside after realising I'd got it all over my floor...
(I always realise after) but it cleaned up with baby wipes!
Round two was done in the garden hung up on the washing line.

Close up

It shines all different colours in the light!

I was over the moon with the results!
My very own cosmic, shimmery gown.

I had to make the happy couple a card too!
I used a stencil from TCW Mini Life Remembered & used some
pink and blue Daler Rowney pearlescent Acrylic Ink & sponged it on
as a background. Once dry I stamped the metal patchwork heart stamp from
PaperArtsy Eclectica Darcy 02 set for my brother (he's a welder) &
I used the word heart stamp from PaperArtsy Eclectica Darcy 01
set for his wife (she's a teacher) Get it?
Anyway, I went round the edges with Archival Ink in Watering Can
which I also used on the stamps!
Ta da!
My version of a CAS card which is a first!

Now it was all going to plan until the day of the reception...
I spent most of the day sorting my tribe out (there's quite a few of us, 6 to be exact)
& getting ready. This takes me so much longer to do now.
Troweled enough make up on to render a wall,
remembering not to put my dress on til last,
otherwise I'd get it dirty before we'd even left the house!
Stepped in my dress to put it on & after 3 of us trying to
squeeze me into it & do the zip up,
it wasn't happening.
Yep, I've put on so much weight in 4 weeks it doesn't fit!
BLOOMIN' MEDS!!!

All was not lost, I had a back up dress.
All girls have a back up dress.
Still, I'm sad I didn't get to wear my cosmic gown.
One day...

Cheers for stopping by!

Clipboard Makeover

 Hiya my lovelies!
Today, I decided my clipboard needed sprucing up!
I gessoed it and then squirted it with blobs of Fresco Paints in Sky, South Pacific, Eggplant & Sherbert. I used a dry brush to spread the colours on both sides. I love this technique! I never know how it going to look and it reminds me of tie dye!

I told you I'm a hippy at heart!

I used my stencils and stamps on the front...

and the back.

I wanted to make a feature of the sun...

so I collaged a face onto it and blended it with some copper paint.

I then used a black pen to add detail to the sun and a white Posca pen to doodle.

All done!
Now I have a fab clipboard to help me doodle, colour or write while sitting infront of the T.V!

I would like to enter this project into the Words Challenge over at PaperArtsy.
Thanks for stopping by!
