Wanderlust 2018 Week 3

Hello again my lovelies!
Last year I got stuck on a few of the lessons in all the courses I took, so this year I'm only doing the lessons I really want to do. So no more stuck and no week 2!
Today I want to share my versions of the 2 projects by Jennifer Lee for week 3 of Wanderlust 2018.
You can join Wanderlust 2018 here.

The first project is a 12x12 inch canvas with a rose mandala.

This year my word is Love and I want to 'do all things with love' so this is my reminder!

The second project is a journal spread of a compass. I put my home town in the centre because my home is the centre of my world.

I'm so glad you could visit me here today, I really do appreciate the support!
Until next time...
Much love

Jot 2018 Week 1 - Geometric Shapes

Hello again my lovelies!
Today I want to share my first week of Jot 2018. Jot 2018 is an art journal course by Marieke Blokland. For more info or to join, click HERE.

The theme for this week is Geometric Shapes.

Paper Play

Main Lesson

I enjoyed playing around with different shapes and colours. I'm out of my comfort zone, but that's good! I also used Deborah Jackson's big eyed girls as inspiration for my doll.  I love her work!

Glad you could join me today. Who inspires you at the moment? Let me know in the comments!

Wanderlust 2018 Set up and Week 1!

Hello my lovelies! 😊
2018 is here and I'm doing Wanderlust for another year. To be honest I only got to week 7 last year, but I will continue doing 2017 along side 2018. In order to start as I mean to go on, I set up a new small Dylusions Journal for the 2018 course. I used my big one last year and although I will be continuing 2017 in it, I wanted a separate one for 2018. I also think I'll cope better with the small one.

My cover reads:
"This art journal is... a sanctuary for self-exploration, self-care and creative freedom.
a space full of beautiful mistakes, discoveries and adventures!
a place to experiment, develop skills and play.
a container for thoughts, dreams and emotions.
Negative judgements, fear and comparisons are not allowed!"

Page of inspiration.
Some of the ephemera used in my journal was supplied by

My version of  Kasia's first page.

Things I love spread

This is my version of the Week 1 Jamie's Journey class. If you would like to join Wanderlust 2018 find out more HERE.

I started with making cards back in 2009.... to be honest when I looked back at the photos of some of my first ones I cringed, but you have to start somewhere! I then moved on to jewellery, polymer clay and scrapbooks. I had some time on a design team and then started my love for mixed media in 2012. From journals to prop making, altering items and back again! And so my journey continues....

Are you doing any courses this year? Let me know in the comments below!
Thanks for your continuing support. 😊
Much love

Wanderlust 2017 Wk7 & Course Chat

Hello again my loves! It has been a long time since I last did a class in Wanderlust 2017. I got to week 7 back in February and for some reason got stuck. I am the kind of person that although lives and breathes randomness, also needs order and structure. (I know I am a walking contradiction!) So, I left it. I just couldn't do it. I couldn't get the hang of painting that way and it gave me a bit of a blockage. I could have just skipped the lesson but I felt kinda paralysed about it. In my last post I shared about 'Sezzing' my art table in my new studio and how it has helped me to create more, well it spurred me on! I had a word with myself, which as it happens, occurs daily, that I should just get it done. Not perfect, just done. So I did.

I looked though the practice sheets I had done and practiced a bit more. The photo above shows the final result. It is not great but it's done. I can hopefully move onto the next class before the end of 2017.

I know it is very unrealistic that I will complete WL2017 by the new year so I will just plod on! I have signed up for WL2018 and also Jot 2018. I will finish Journal 52 which I have now caught up with and I'll post the last 3 weeks together. I've knocked MiniMoleyDaily and Café Cards on the head, as I got so behind with them I'd never catch up!
I have also started Creative Recovery with Suzi Blu, which started this month. Not sure I'll share that as it's a course for overcoming personal issues.
Do you sign up for more than you can actually do?
I thought that if I kept myself busy with courses, I'd have less time to spend on acknowledging being ill. Unfortunately, due to my illnesses, I found I couldn't keep up with it all, especially if I needed rest days or had a flare up. Which in turn, made me feel worse!  I'm still working on pacing myself... Note to self: No more courses Sez.... at least until all of these are finished!
I know I took on too many courses this year, probably enough to last me a good 5 years, but they are there for me to do as and when. See there's always a positive! 😊

Thanks so much for visiting! I do appreciate it.
Much love

More Sezzing! Table and Tablet Case

Hello my lovelies! I have posted on Instagram and FB but wanted to share here too! I decided to 'Sez' some more! (Sez is altering/personalising in my style). I tend to use my art table as a big palette while I work, as you can see in the first photo. So it naturally called out to me to be one big art piece that I can add to!

I had loads of fun! I finished it off with some acrylic ink splats. I love how it turned out and I've actually found that it inspires me to create more, which is great! I am planning to nest in my new studio and once I've finished I will post pics. 😊

Well, after 'Sezzing' my table I went on to 'Sez' my new tablet case. It started out as plain red. I couldn't leave it like that so I had a whale of a time! Lots of funky layers in acrylic paint and I used POSCA pens for details. Love it! 😊

Even on the inside!

I hope I've inspired you to have a go at altering boring every day objects into works of art!
Thanks for stopping by, I really appreciate it.
Much love

Personalising My Mobility Aids

Hello my lovelies!
I wanted to share with you something that is arty but also personal too. If you know me in real life or are friends with me on FB you will probably already know that I am disabled. If not you do now!  Anyway, I was kinda waiting in case I got fixed. I can't be fixed. So in order for me to get closure on my old life I decided to make my 'aids' mine. So I 'Sezed' them! (Sezed means personalised them) 😊
I used some fab Galaxy Duck Tape as a starting point. I applied the tape to the metal parts I wanted to cover. This took me a while! It wasn't particularly easy either, but I did it! I then sponged on some Black, Purple, Pink and Orange acrylic paint in different areas making sure I covered the joins of the tape to hide them. I then flicked White acrylic paint on with a toothbrush. Once dry I added some Iridescent glitter glue in spots to look like stars. I also made some covers for the armrests on my wheelchair. They are made from fluffy socks and elastic so I can wash them. I am happy with how my 'aids' have turned out and they're definitely more 'Sez'.

My wheelchair is named 'Speedy'. I need her for distances out and about.

This is my crutch it's name is Crutch... haha! 😜 Well that's the name that stuck, not very imaginative, but there you are!

I really appreciate you stopping by my little blog.
Much love and crafty hugs
